Camo Kid

Jeans - New Look HERE
Camo Jacket - New Look sale
Boots - Ebay HERE
Faux Fur - Ebay HERE
Fedora - Miss Selfridge HERE
Cross Ring - Ebay HERE

I'm a born and bred "Army brat" and have always associated camouflage with my dad and the military life that I've lived. In my opinion it's something to be respected and worn only by those who have earned it...but then some fashion genius decided that it could be worn by anyone anywhere...

This is the only piece of camouflage I own, it took forever find and for me it's perfect. It's a simple, oversized camouflage shirt. No tacky militia buttons or badges or shoulder detail. That's it. Plain and simple. Respectful.

In a funny sort of way it's almost subtle especially when paired with different textures such as my fave faux fur collar and Chloe wannabe booties. A subtle nod to fashion and family in one snug little Autumn outfit.

Dance To The Beat Of My Heart

Dress - Primark
Coat - Charity Shop
Boots - Topshop Attitude Boots ( v old)

Thanks Gawd it's Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiday! This is exactly the kind of outfit I would wear for drinks or dinner with friends on an evening such as this. The dress is another beaut from my most recent Primark haul (video HERE).
Yes it's another Primark skater dress but I love it! This one has slightly longer sleever and a Burberry esque monochromatic heart print and it's such an easy piece to dress up for a night out or dress down for work.
Necklace - Zara HERE

Such a simple dress, coat, boots combination has to be pulled together somehow and this Zara necklace does the trick and brings a little festive spirit. I'm not going to lie...I hate myself for it... but I did end up taking it back...it's beauty is undeniable but I just couldn't justify £30 for a necklace. Pretty sure it will end up on my Xmas list so fingers crossed for a future reunion!

Have an amazing weekend!

Video: Blackpool Weekend VLOG 18th - 20th October '13

Dan and I headed off on a mini adventure to Blackpool for the weekend. He's just come back from his Thai travels so we thought it would be good to get away together and go somewhere amazing...Blackpool it was!

I filmed as much as I could - turns out it's actually a real effort to remember to film throughout the day! It was a hilarious weekend! Check out my VLOG HERE and be prepared for plenty of unflattering angles and jibber jabber!

TARTAN 3 Ways: Day

Fedora - Miss Selfridge
Jumper - Topman (bfs)
Dress - Primark
Socks - Topshop
Pumps - Topshop

For this daytime look I used my Primark dress as a base layered with a classic burgundy knit and topped with a fedora. Knee high socks with tartan can be a little risky but paired with flats they are a cool alternative to tights before the weather turns arctic and flashing some flesh is totally out of the question! This isn't the most flattering of outfits but it's ridiculously warm and comfy, perfect for running errands or a lazy day at home.

Autumn is all about layering and a little flash of tartan makes any outfit a little more festive and in my opinion you can never have enough of it. I've got my beady eye on a couple more pieces to add to my collection : this skirt from Missguided, this dress from Boohoo and this suit (blazer & trousers) from ASOS. A girl can dream...*sigh*...

Hope you've all had a beaut of a weekend! D and I have just returned from our weekend in Blackpool so keep a lookout for a vlog on my YouTube channel later this week!

TARTAN 3 Ways: Night Out

My photographer/boyfriend has finally returned from his Thai travels just in time to take a few snaps of my current favourite trend...tartan!

If you watched my September Favourites video (HERE) you may have seen me waffle on about my love of tartan and a couple of my favourite Primark pieces for Autumn. This trend can be a little hit or miss and has the potential to turn you into a Scottish reprobate so I thought I'd show how I would style my two current faves for different occasions.
Dress - Primark
Clutch - Primark (last year)
Tights - M&S
Boots - Topshop (last year's Attitude boots - check Ebay)
I picked up this dress waaaaaaaaay back in August (video HERE) and fell head over heels as soon as I spied it's little capped sleeves, Peter Pan collar and bold tartan print. For £15 it's an absolute steal and the word on the grapevine is that a green and black version should be hitting stores soon...!

Styled in the wrong way this dress could get you a one way ticket to St Trinians so I wore it with my trusty studded clutch and super high, super chunky black boots to try and "grunge" the whole look down. From the little research I've done, any kind of tartan dress is bound to get you cat calls and schoolgirl references on a night out, so ignore any pisstakers, wear your tartan with pride and let your inner William Wallace shine through.

How would you style this dress?

p.s. Keep your eyes peeled...eww...for this little number making a reappearance later in the week as a daytime look!

TARTAN 3 Ways: Date/Drinks/Work

Let's talk tartan trousers.

It was love at first sight but as soon as we were home together I questioned my decision to embark on a relationship with something I wasn't totally comfortable with.Normal statement trousers are a daunting prospect enough, let alone a bright red, slightly fluffy pair. I took them on test run dinners and drinks paired with t shirt, jumpers and crop tops but it wasn't until I spotted this silky, boyfriend style t-shirt in New Look that I knew I'd made the right decision. And we lived happily ever after...(not that you can tell from my miserable expression)!

T shirt - New Look HERE
Trousers - Primark
Shoes - Matalan
Necklace - Primark
Bag  - gift

The plain colour and boxy fit of this t shirt really contrast with the bold print and heavy texture of these trousers and the whole look is pulled together with a statement gold necklace to match the accents on my bag and shoes.

In my opinion this outfit is pretty versatile and could easily be worn out for date night, drinks or a works do. To wear it during the day I'd switch the necklace for rings and the metallic courts for smart pumps all pulled together with a chunky cardigan or scarf. I've already considered pairing the trousers with sequins, clashing prints and tailored shirts so be prepared to see a lot more posts featuring these in the next couple of months!

How would you style these statement trousers?
